"But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6
Nothing humbles the soul like fasting (Psalms 35:13; 69:10). Well, humiliation is another way, but I think you will all agree on opting out of that option! No, thank you!
Though fasting is the more honorable way, it is certainly not easier. But we are not without assistance! James 4:6 reminds us that “…[God] opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” While you fast, if you feel you need the extra grace to move forward, simply ask. The promise is sure, and God will deliver! He will pour out His grace and favor on you in abundance to meet every need.
“God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8
My prayer for you today is the prayer of Paul for the Hebrews (Hebrews 13:20-21 NLT ):
Now may the God of peace— who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus,the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood—may he equip you with all you need for doing his will.May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ,every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.
